Yesterday was the 8th annual memorial golf tournament for Eddie. People traveled from all over the U.S. to celebrate his life and I know he would be forever grateful. I’m writing this blog with tears in my eyes. Not so much tears of sadness, but tears of appreciation and love. The community of Chittenango deeply touches my heart. You read about these communities in books or see them in movies, but rarely experience them. To this day, this lovely town still honors and remembers a local hero. They came together to honor his memory and celebrate his life. My tears are also due to the overwhelming joy of spending time with some of the guys Eddie served with from the 10th Mountain division, whom I haven’t seen in years. They traveled from South Carolina, Florida, Rhode Island and Indiana just to be here to support their fallen brother. The camaraderie in the military is like nothing I’ve ever seen. They became brothers and instantly made me feel like family. Eddie will always be a huge part of my life and so will these incredible men. Thank you guys for all that you do. For your service, you’re support and for keeping Eddie’s memory alive. Thank you to everyone who attended the tournament from near and far and to those who made this tournament possible, especially the Bolens. I know Eddie was smiling big. Slainte!
